How do I become a client of Monument Crisis Center?
To become a client, please visit during Food Distribution hours:
- Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
- Time: 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM (new clients must arrive by 11:30 AM)
On your first visit, please bring:
- A valid photo ID
- Be prepared to complete a short application

Why do new clients need to arrive by 11:30 AM?
New clients are asked to arrive by 11:30 AM so staff have enough time to:

How do I qualify to become a client of Monument Crisis Center?
Monument Crisis Center serves low-income households and uses the following guidelines:
- Primary qualification: Based on CDBG income guidelines (updated annually)
- Geographic requirement: Not restricted to Contra Costa County
- Program-specific requirements:
- Some programs (such as USDA/TEFAP) have separate income guidelines

Yes. Monument Crisis Center serves families regardless of location.

What hours can I receive services?
Food Distribution hours are:

Important for new clients:
- Please arrive before 11:30 AM to allow time for registration and program review.
Will receiving services impact my benefits or immigration status?
No. Receiving services will not affect your status.
- Monument Crisis Center is an independent nonprofit organization
- Services do not impact benefits, immigration status, or household standing
Additional support includes:
- Help with applying for Medi-Cal
- Assistance with CalFresh
- Access to immigration resources through trusted partners
If any legal or policy changes occur, clients will be informed promptly.

Yes, you are welcome to return.

When are your donation drop-off hours?
Donation drop-off hours are:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
- 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Where do I drop off donations?
Monument Crisis Center is located at:

Drop-off options:
- During Food Distribution hours (Mon–Wed, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM):
- Visit the MCC Tent located outside
- At other times:
- Go to the roll-up gate or
- Use either set of glass entry doors for assistance

What items does Monument Crisis Center accept?
We accept a variety of food and essential items, including:
- Healthy, nutritious, non-expired food
- Non-food essentials (based on current needs)

Can I donate expired food items?
No. We cannot accept expired items.

Do you accept used or opened items?
No. For health and safety reasons, we cannot accept opened or used items, including:
- Food
- Toiletries
- Diapers
- Feminine hygiene products
All donated items must be new and unopened.
Do you accept homegrown produce?
Yes! We gladly accept fresh, homegrown produce.

No. Due to health and safety regulations, we cannot accept:

I want to host a donation drive. How do I get started?
To host a donation drive:

Food Distribution FAQs
How often can I pick up food?
Qualified households can receive food:
- Once per week through our free grocery program
Additional programs may also be available, including:

What happens if I do not pick up food every week?
There is no penalty if you are unable to attend every week.

Can I request a specific food item?
We are unable to guarantee specific items during your visit.
- Inventory changes throughout the day and week
- Each food cart and distribution is different
- Items are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis
While we aim to provide a variety of nutritious items, availability will vary.
Do you provide diapers or baby supplies?
Yes, we offer limited baby supplies, including:
- Diapers (Newborn through Pull-Ups, up to age 3)
- Baby food and formula (limited availability)

I cannot come in person. Can someone pick up food for me?
Yes. If you are unable to visit due to transportation, mobility, or other challenges:
- You may assign a designated alternate pickup person
- Such as a trusted friend or family member
- This requires completing a pickup authorization form

- Submit documents to update your file

How do I enroll my child?
To enroll your child, you’ll first need to become a client. Simply bring the required paperwork and complete a program application.
Can my child attend tutoring only once a week?
Yes! We understand students often have extracurricular activities, so attending once a week is perfectly fine.
Community Engagement FAQs
Does Monument Crisis Center accept walk-in volunteers?
No. Walk-in volunteers are not allowed. For safety, all volunteers are scheduled in advance with a Monument Crisis Center Staff Member as well as required to check-in for each volunteer shift.
What days and hours are available to volunteer with Monument Crisis Center?

- No regular weekend on-site volunteer opportunities.

I want to volunteer with Monument Crisis Center on a weekend, do you have weekend volunteering opportunities?
No, no onsite weekend volunteering opportunities. Refer to drives.
I want to bring my child/my child would like to volunteer with Monument Crisis Center. What is the minimum age to volunteer?
- For on-site Food Pantry volunteer opportunities, the minimum age for volunteers is 14+ with adult supervision.

Can I fulfill my school/university/program community service hours at Monument Crisis Center?
- Yes, Monument Crisis Center is able to verify community service hours as part of a school, university, or education program on a case-by-case basis.
- Please make sure when filling out your volunteer information or during your initial conversation, to mention and note if you need hours verified, so that it can be taken into account before you begin volunteering.
Can I fulfill my court-ordered/court-mandated community service hours at Monument Crisis Center?
- No, unfortunately, Monument Crisis Center is not able to approve or verify court-ordered/court-mandated community service hours.
- To complete these hours, please contact the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano at https://volunteer.foodbankccs.org/court .
I want to host a workshop or teach a class at Monument Crisis Center, how can I get started?
- If you would like to volunteer as an individual or with your organization to teach a class or host a workshop, please call:

How do I volunteer with Monument Crisis Center?
All volunteers must sign up in advance — we do not accept walk-in volunteers.
