Sustainability
Building a healthier community through environmental responsibility, sustainable initiatives, and long-term stewardship that supports both people and the planet.
Growing a Sustainable Future
Monument Crisis Center is growing our sustainability efforts!
Since last summer, Monument Crisis Center has been implementing our newest Sustainability Plan by hosting a quarterly street cleanup to help keep our community green and clean.
Staff and onboarded volunteers put on their gloves and walk the same path many of our clients take along Sutter Street to our Center as we clean up the trash and debris.
Over 300 pounds have been cleared, and we are just getting started!
Our Sustainability Initiatives
Together we can create a lasting impact. Your support helps us build a greener, stronger, and more sustainable community.
Quarterly Street Cleanup
Staff and onboarded volunteers put on their gloves and walk the same path many of our clients take along Sutter Street to our Center as we clean up the trash and debris.
Composting Initiatives
We are also installing large compost bins for our new pantry and outside areas to help reduce waste and support healthier environmental practices throughout our Center.
3-Stream Waste Sorting
3-stream waste sorting bins inside the building for our clients and staff to use. These bins are coupled with educational flyers describing which items are to be sorted into compost, recycling, or trash.
Environmental Education
Environmental education presentations and hiking events with local naturalists will be offered to our staff and clients to encourage environmental awareness and community engagement.
Proud 1% for the Planet Partner
Monument Crisis Center is a proud 1% for the Planet Partner, as we strive to support the positive environmental impact of our organization and the greater community.
This partnership holds MCC accountable to achieve our sustainability goals through 1% donation of our profits each year, and verify our environmental footprint is reducing to support our community and our planet.
Through this smart environmental giving model, MCC can contribute to the health of our planet and future generations to thrive.
