Workshops, Classes & Family Services
Originally part of the Resource and Referral program, as the need from the community and services provided by Monument Crisis Center in regards to these topics grew, the Health and Wellness Program was officially established.
The focus of the Health and Wellness Program is to provide a safe space to support families as they navigate through health and health resources, in addition to providing workshops, classes, and education to improve the quality of life for our families.
Monument Crisis Center staff works with the assistance of our wonderful Community Partners.
Cancer & Wellness Hub
This hub is focused on providing a warm and welcoming place, providing a listening ear to anyone who has been affected by cancer, whether personally or a loved one.
The hub aims to improve cancer awareness, prevention, and treatment, and acts as a place for those in need to address concerns, receive support, and learn about and access resources throughout their cancer journey.
Monument Crisis Center offers workshops in the following areas:
Nutrition / Cooking Education
Monument Crisis Center partners with 18 Reasons, a local nonprofit organization, working throughout the San Francisco Bay Area with Cooking Matters to provide nutrition education and improved access to healthy food in low-income communities.
Cooking classes held at the Center teach participants how to create affordable, nutritious meals, with each session ending in a shared meal.
Health Screenings
Students from local nursing programs and practicing healthcare professionals regularly host workshops and clinics at the Center.
These events provide services such as diabetes, cholesterol, and blood pressure screenings, along with educational presentations on a variety of health topics, helping participants stay informed and take a proactive approach to their health.
Physical Education
Exercise and relaxation play an important role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The Center offers wellness classes such as yoga and low-impact exercise to help participants reduce stress, improve mobility, and stay active.
These sessions provide a welcoming space to recharge, refocus, and build healthier daily habits.
