Our English classes help create new opportunities and build confidence for our students! It also helps improve language barriers that many face whether it’s in the community or at home with their children. Our goal is to provide our students with English skills that will help them branch out in the community.

English Language Learners


Employment Opportunity Workshop helps individuals advance their job search through personalized assistance in setting up an e-mail account, building a resume, filling out applications and improving basic interview skills. The newest program at the Monument Crisis Center, the Employment Workshop: Get Your Basics On, is once a week and is by appointment only. Each week the volunteers focus on individually guiding and helping an individual in hopes to improve the individuals’ confidence and help job-seekers in their search for full-time work. Health & Wellness

Monument Crisis Center is increasingly becoming a valuable resource for individuals and families to receive assistance with health and wellness resources. Services provided to community members include application assistance for MediCal, Healthy Families and CALFresh, as well as referrals to local organizations that focus solely on health and wellness issues.

Rotacare Bay Area

Monument Crisis Center is proud to host Rotacare Bay Area Mobile Health Clinic.  Rotacare is a volunteer alliance of medical professionals, organizations and community members dedicated to providing free primary, quality healthcare services to uninsured families and individuals with limited ability to pay for medical care.  The clinic occurs onsite the first and third Tuesdays of every month with appointments running between the hours of 5-9pm.

Monument Crisis Center also periodically holds workshops in the following areas:

Nutrition/Cooking Education: 18 Reasons, a local nonprofit organization, works throughout the San Francisco Bay Area with Cooking Matters to provide nutrition education and improved access to healthy food in low-income communities. The organization holds cooking classes at the Monument Crisis Center that educates participants on how to create affordable and nutritious meals. Students prepare and enjoy meals after each class.

Health Screenings: Both students from local nursing programs and practicing professionals periodically host workshops and clinics offering a number of services including diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure checks, as well as informative presentations and demonstrations on a variety of other healthcare topics.

Dental Screenings: Dental screenings and presentations for Monument Crisis Center program beneficiaries are periodically hosted by dental students from local colleges and trade schools. The screening performed includes checks for cavities, gum disease, dry mouth and oral cancer.

Physical Education: Exercise and relaxation are crucial to living a healthy lifestyle. Yoga classes are held at the Monument Crisis Center in order to help program beneficiaries alleviate stress, relax and refocus.
