This letter is a thank-you for your response to our recent call for help, to inform you about the continued needs of our community, and to request your sustained support.
Monument Crisis Center is very grateful to the entire Contra Costa community and our supporters throughout the Bay Area for the unprecedented support in response to our recent call for help when our shelves became empty.
Since then, individuals, schools, churches and companies have contributed over 11,000 pounds of food! We were thrilled to find that 98% of all donations received were made by new supporters of the Center, and the average donation was $25.00! Two companies each provided matching grants of $25,000 to encourage others to donate, and volunteers came to the Center asking how they could help our clients, stocked our shelves and filledboxes with food for distribution. Without a doubt, your help came just in time.
Today’s gloomy economic situation is a huge factor in the increased number and needs of the clients we serve. From July to September this year, over 500 new families have come to our doors seeking essential aid. In September alone we provided food for over 6,000 individuals – a new record.
Your support got us through this recent crisis, and we can’t thank you enough. We need your sustained support, in food and financial donations, and volunteers to work in our facility, in order to meet the community’s growing needs. We need your sustained support because no one should have to go hungry!
