Seniors Programs Senior Moments | Brown Bag

Senior Moments

In March 2007 five senior participants and five senior volunteers came to the Monument Crisis Center to pick up and help distribute food from the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano’s Brown Bag program for clients over 55 years of age. They stayed to chat and formed the first gathering of what would eventually become Senior Moments. Today, Senior Moments is a semimonthly gathering with an average of 75 senior participants. Each gathering is brimming with refreshments, music, chatter, and most beloved: Bingo! After the bingo social is over, each senior receives a bag of nutritious food. Participants are seniors or special needs adults on limited incomes; most rely on the Center as their only social outlet, but the festivities are enjoyed by participants and volunteers alike!
