Latina Drop in Center

The Latina Drop in Center was established in the fall of 2006 at the Monument Crisis Center. Our multi-agency team in collaboration with the Concord Police Department, Children and Family Services, Victim Witness, Bay Area Legal Aid, County Mental Health department, STAND, Rape Crisis and a host of other service providers in the community formed a collaboration to assist the women and the families of the Monument Corridor with useful resource information and assistance. There are no requirements for the use of the program.

Goals:

  • Inspire community resource programs to participate in helping the community.
  • To make the community aware of the Monument Crisis Center.
  • Gain leadership/learn how to be a leader.
  • To learn to express yourself in public with confidence.

How you can help:

  • Currently we encourage all interested programs, community resource workshops, and application assistance volunteers to fill out our Latina Drop in Center Presentation form and/or set up a meeting with the Executive Director as well as the Program Assistant.

Family Law

The Domestic Violence Program began in 2005 by the Monument Crisis Center. We partnered up with Bay Area Legal Aid and STAND to better help the victims of Domestic Violence in the Monument Corridor, especially women who cannot get to Martinez, Richmond, or Pittsburg.
The program began when an attorney was contacted by Monument Crisis Center to help a client’s domestic violence situation; unfortunately the client could not drive to get to other locations for assistance in filling out a Restraining Order. Our Executive Director met with the Managing attorney and from there began the partnership.  If a client needs the restraining order sooner they can go directly to the Martinez court house on 751 Pine Street and they can ask the Family Law Facilitator to help them with the Restraining Order. They also have the option to go to Richmond on Fridays/Mondays which has walk-ins beginning at 8:30am (clients need to arrive early and go to the Clerk’s Office in room 185) or by appointment in Pittsburg on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Goals:

  • To help victims of DV receive the guidance and support by helping them with the process of a restraining order
  • So that victims of DV who do not have a means to drive to another city may have easier access to protections they may need.

Requirements for restraining order:

You must have been abused by:

  • A current or former spouse
  • A current or former cohabitant
  • A person you are currently dating
  • A person you have formerly dated
  • A parent of your child
  • A person closely related to you by blood, marriage, or adoption

The abuser has also:

  • Caused or tried to harm you
  • Assaulted you sexually
  • Made you fear immediate harm to you or another

Restraining
Order Clinics:
